The health and wellbeing of dogs is the primary concern at the FCI World Dog Show

The Finnish Kennel Club would like to underline that the health and wellbeing of dogs must be the focus of special attention now that Finland is undergoing an exceptional heatwave. Canine wellbeing is the responsibility of the exhibitors at the FCI World Dog Show – they must not endanger the wellbeing of their dogs under any circumstances.

Canine health and wellbeing will require particular attention if the heatwave, which has gripped Finland throughout July, continues during the FCI World Dog Show.

The Finnish Kennel Club reminds dog owners that they must not shut their dogs in a car when the weather is hot. The parking lots of Messukeskus, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki will be supervised throughout the event and any dogs left in a car will be reported to the venue's security guards and, if necessary, to the authorities.

Enough water must also be provided for dogs at the show venue. Drinking bowls can be filled at specific watering points in the halls.

The Finnish Kennel Club's antidoping regulations will be observed at the FCI World Dog Show. These regulations and the Animal Welfare Act forbid the use of pharmaceuticals or other similar substances or preparations to artificially enhance, lower or maintain an animal's performance ability.

The antidoping regulations also forbid the colouring of a dog's coat or nose and treating a dog's hair with substances that affect the quality or shape of its coat.
