Mayor Jussi Pajunen becomes patron of the FCI World Dog Show 2014
Helsinki Mayor Jussi Pajunen is now the official patron of the FCI World Dog Show 2014, the high point of the international dog show calendar. The Finnish Kennel Club is organising the event at Messukeskus, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki, on 8-10 August 2014.
The Finnish Kennel Club was given the honour of arranging the world's most significant dog show in its jubilee year. The Finnish Kennel Club celebrates its 125th anniversary in May.
“This is a great honour for us. The Finnish Kennel Club last organised the dog show `world championships´ in 1998 and the event proved a great success. There has even been talk of a `Helsinki standard´ since then,” Exhibition Committee Chairman Kari Järvinen says.
The theme of the Finnish Kennel Club's jubilee year is The good life with dog, and this will be reflected on the event and its programmes. More detailed information about the programmes will be released as August draws nearer.
Other dog championships will also be arranged in conjunction with the FCI World Dog Show 2014. The world championships in obedience, HTM & freestyle, and junior handling will be held on the same weekend.
The Finnish Kennel Club expects more than 20,000 dogs from 50 different countries to be at the FCI World Dog Show 2014.
